Freeze! This is a stick-up...

I have in my possession a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe, and I'm not afraid to use it (okay, I am). I have never been a big fan of pumpkin cookies—too cakey. But I could substitute agave for sugar, whole wheat flour for white, and carob for chocolate chips. Should I or shouldn't I???

I don't even care about the cookies. I wouldn't even enjoy eating them (does that count for something?) It's the act of baking that I miss.

Hmm, psyche . . . I wonder what else could be going on here?

  1. I missed baking too, so a couple of weeks ago I baked a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I really had no interest in eating any of them, so yes, it does count for something! :-)

I gave them to my partner, who proceeded handed them out to his co-workers and friends of ours. It works out. You get the joy of baking and everyone else gets to reap the benefits!

  2. Great idea—give them all away! Did you resist the temptation to taste the dough? That's my biggest challenge...

  3. I say bake em for the smell, and savor one tiny taste. Then make P take them to work!

  5. Absolutely resisted the temptation of tasting the dough. I think a tear came to my eyes as I washed the bowl and watched the scrappings go down the drain. But then again, I'm crazy that way....

  6. You'll find all new joys in cooking and baking when you have no intention of eating it. It becomes much more a craft, and must be similar to what professional chefs feel.

Now you have to bake them because you've built them up so much.

  7. I baked cookies over the weekend when it was snowing. It was fun, and tempting coz the house smelled sooooo good. I totally had a taste of cookie dough off my fingers and had a slight tummy ache over just licking my finger? wtf???? And then I brought them to work and everyone was so, so happy. It was worth it.

Have fun! - a fellow baker

  8. This whole thing is completely fascinating! Wishing you much mental and physical bad-assitude! (and hopefully psyching myself up for such transformations... one doesn't move to a new country to stick to the status quo, right?)
